Your journey begins here.

Application are processed through GradCAS, a centralized application system servicing graduate programs nationwide. The application cycle begins in September. Review of applications will start in October (prior to the start year) and continue through May (or until the cohort is filled).

Summer 2023- Application deadline June 1, 2023
On campus summer courses take place July 10-28.

Admission Requirements


Students applying for the program must have:

  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution's music program, earning either a BA, BM, or BS in Music Education (or alternative licensure) or other music specialization.

  •  A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

  • Completed at least one year (at the beginning of coursework) of music teaching in a public or private school setting.

Students must submit / complete the following material:

  • A 20-minute teaching video

  • A current resume

  • Three evaluations from individuals not related to you, with strong knowledge of your professional character including observation of teaching skills, your ability to succeed in a graduate program, achievements and/or professional experiences. You should notify your evaluators in advance they will receive a link to the Liaison Evaluator Portal, create an account and complete the evaluation process.

  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary, regionally accredited institutions sent directly to GradCAS at:

  • An interview with Concordia music education faculty (in-person or online)


Application Process


Use the following steps to apply for the program.
You may begin your application before all materials are ready. GradCAS will save your progress, allowing you to return to it later.

  • Create your account in GradCAS. 

  • In the "Welcome to GradCAS" window, select Start Your Application.

  • Select Summer 2023 as the semester the program will start.

  • In the program selection window, type Concordia College to find the Master of Music in Music Education program.

  • Complete the three standard GradCAS sections of the application, and the fourth section unique to our Master of Music program where you will upload documents, assign your evaluators, answer program questions and provide your video link.

  • Submit your application with the $38 application fee. No second institutional application fee is required.

International Students


International students are encouraged to apply by mid-February. If accepted to the program, this would allow the time needed to obtain a student visa (I-20).

Transcripts
Students applying with international transcripts must submit their undergraduate transcript(s) to an approved credential evaluation agency for review and validation prior to applying to the program. These agencies can be found on the NACES website. Once validation has been completed, transcript documents can be upload to GradCAS.

English Proficiency
Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in English by providing one of the following official test score documents. The test date must be within two years of the date of application. Information on these tests can be obtained online at IELTS.org and TOEFL.org. Students' official results must be received directly from the testing service before enrolling. Concordia's TOEFL code is 6113, no code is required for IELTS.

  • IELTS with a minimum test score of 6.5

  • TOEFL with a minimum test score of 80

Financial Requirements
International students must demonstrate and certify financial support before Concordia can issue an I-20 form. If accepted to the program, students must submit the International Student Financial Aid and Certification Form and a certified bank statement. Further information will be provided on acceptance.

Medical Insurance
International students are required to carry and show evidence of health insurance valid in the United States while they are enrolled.
